NAAN of the non-Indian Bread kind
Another sketch, this time for the first page of my brand-spankin’ new sketchbook :) I always write my personal info on the first page in case it gets lost, which is what the huge blank space is (I deleted it because why do you need to know, eh?))
I’ve been using a small one for so long lately (easier to carry!), that when I got this normal-sized one, I felt like I was working on an 11”x14” one! XD
These are my characters from my story G&M ~Märchen~. The one who’s small and looking up is Sandy Matthews, and the other one is her older and taller cousin Nancy Matthews vwv.
I may have pulled a Frank Cho there, but whatever. I’ve been working on this for almost the same amount of time as Ara & Celi has, aka a whole lot of years XD Here’s my deviantART gallery for more, since I did try doing it as a webcomic first. Now it’s on and off working on it as a graphic novel.

Grace Rexach, making an appearance ‘round these parts again! (‘w’)-b
Technically speaking, she’s not supposed to have a police badge. But I goofed up on her outfit, so fixed it with that 8D. She was part of the police force, but not anymore. So!
The gun’s not even proper, but that happens with memory sketches. I love how her face turned out XD

Completely from memory, so the outfit’s not really exact!
There’s been an insane amount of Metal Gear Solid posts on my dash this week — I mean, every third post in half an hour was related to it . (Of course, new game helps, hohohoho) This fan out-pour reminded me that I needed to get back to watching this movie and I’m halfway through it. (I’ve been trying and forgetting to watch it since last year. Oy.)
Not sure yet if I’m supposed to take it seriously or take it as it is. Either one’s fine with me, because it’s entertaining at least. (And some creepy parts do their job, too.)
So here’s Boss. I love her lines, they’re very quotable. :3 Her story’s fascinating too! I also appreciate the fact that the creators made her appearance related to who she is/was and to her background. It’s in-character as a character who’s a soldier. This is my POV based on this movie, so XD

These were done completely from memory (since I was on the bus ;;), so yeah, obvious mistakes in their clothes ahoy!
Anyway, these two are my customized Shepard and Tali’Zorah nar Rayya from Mass Effect. The Shep one was supposed to be accompanied by another sketch, which would’ve made up a story but the way I drew this one made me go egh on the idea. Maybe another time. At least the perspective doesn’t look off……………….? >_>;;
Tali’s line is from those times when you go into battle mode in ME1 and if you have her on your squad, at one point she will say that line. (She might not say ‘Commander’ though, but yeah.) That was just so cute to me. <3 Because it really showed just how loyal she was to him, and how it might also seem a way of repaying his kind actions towards her. Well, unless you’re a Renegade Shep??? XD
Her left hand was drawn, but unfortunately it looked more like she was giving the finger rather than sternly pointing at someone. So I edited it out. Oh, you three-fingered Quarian.
The above was done in pencil, the bottom in ball point which is usually my preferred tool for sketching vwv.

Sketch of a man I saw some days ago. He had a varsity jacket on, but obviously I can’t recreate that completely from memory. Well, tried to here at least. I think he was fiddling with a cellphone too.
Didn’t time myself but might have been done in five to seven minutes.

Test image with Krita Studio by JadineR
So I’ve recently found out about a new free art program called Krita, and…I have no idea what to make of it so far. The image above was my first test drive with the program and of course I will keep trying it out. I was pretty excited for it because it looked awesome (THE GAZILLION FREE BRUSHES IT ALREADY HAS) but right now I think I’m halfway regretting it.
[[MORE]]
Downloading the program took almost a week, due to the number of times I’ve had to download and redownload the .exe file. This is because it didn’t want to install because of a missing Windows component or something. :\ I thought it was me having disrupted the download in some way but nope. Nothing. Then the company came out with a newer version a day or two ago, so downloaded that and huzzah! It worked.
This is where my frustration came in. I know I’m an idiot compared to other people and their art program know-how, but even I know programs aren’t supposed to be THIS difficult. Some of the tools don’t make sense— there’s only ONE tool that you’d think could be the designated pen tool, but it’s not. It’s a calligraphy pen, and while I thought that was weird, I thought “ok, maybe I just click this and then one of the brushes and THEN we’ll be set.” I spent a half hour trying to use the brushes but all I got were calligraphic strokes XD I had to go to the site and try to search for tutorials just to figure WHICH tool was the one I needed to just be able to do normal lines.
By the way, the tutorials aren’t…easy either. The pdfs on the site aren’t helpful in my opinion. I got even more confused by them. David Revoy’s tutorials are the ones that finally helped me know what certain tools did. Turns out, there’s not a pen tool or a brush tool, there’s the FREEHAND tool which looks more like a selection tool on the program. (I know Photoshop has one like it but at least it looks like a pen.) Then there are the settings; good luck trying to click and change them, because on mine, they didn’t. I couldn’t change the strokes or the size because none of the settings wanted to open.
So yeah, missed out on that. This was done with the default setting. I will say the the brushes are love. <3 They exceeded my expectations on that part. Krita also is able to open and export a whole bunch of different file formats including Photoshop, so of course that’s also good! It also has different comic templates (BD, American, manga and another one), film templates and many different paper sizes in 300 and 600 resolutions.
Then there are the various versions of selecting colors and such, but those gave me eyeache so I’ll refrain from saying thoughts on those too.
Maybe other people will have better luck (and are more clever) with this program, and while I certainly will keep figuring it out, I am also glad this is a free program. If I had paid money for it, I would’ve been bawling my eyes out. It’s not worth it if I have to spend more time learning that ‘normal’ buttons have a completely different purpose here and learning the almost opposite way Krita works from most programs — than spending time drawing and painting with it. (Not even Illustrator gave me so much trouble!)

My last commission for a while and it was for my good friend Aio! :D This is Sakuri, one of his main characters, and the story this scene is based on, Melchior Party, is a sequel* to their story Birth of a Succubus!
You can read that here.
In fact, you can also buy it here! (Cover by myself too :3)
Check out their gallery for more stories, including their new one called The Sneaker Princess!
I believe so, sorry if I misunderstood ;_;

Same as with my Rocket card, this one was also meant to be done for MetaCon! Unfortunately I only managed to pencil it before the event started 8|;; So just now, I finished inking and coloring it :3
I’ve been reading a lot of Dennis O’Neil’s and Denys Cowan’s The Question series from the 80s, and well, I liked how Cowan and his inkers did the smoke in it, so I tried to imitate that. Ehhhh, I don’t know if it turned out good enough >.> I ended up covering most of the man of the hour! (or ‘man of the card’?) I did learn some sort of layering with colors traditionally, so that was good!
Also, people with no faces are super hard to draw, good god. I might have messed up that area ;_;
Also2, y’all should go read that 80s series if you can.

This card was meant to be done for MetaCon last year but I only managed to ink it before the event started. I finished coloring it today as a break. :3 You can tell I tried to play with perspective here, haha. I liked how her eyes turned out, and her jacket!Everyone should consider checking out Icon. So great, especially this girl right there <3 P.S. This ain’t the Young Justice version C: In case anyone wondered why the colors (and the design) look different!
