The new anime is better in a lot of things, the fidelity to the original dressing details, the jewelry, the shading, the scene composition (more simmilar to the manga, than the old anime), the effects, I even like the 3D parts!
But the expressivity… oh boy, that’s gone. And for those who keep telling me that it has the same expresivity as the manga, and that I am such a terrible fan for not knowing that… Well, this is for you. :D
And I don’t mean to start a war, it is okay if you like it, and it is okay if you don’t. Everyone has the right to show their opinion without the “YOU ARE NOT A TRUE SM FAN IF YOU COMPLAIN” thing.
Doesn’t she also have like two right hands on image 5? How is this possible in Anime
Reblogging mainly for cyberkevvideo but also because this was/is my thing about Crystal, most of all. It’s the thing that keeps sticking out for me, even when I try to enjoy the series as a lifelong fan.
People who say that Crystal’s style is justifiable, since it’s based on the manga/Naoko’s style, kinda make me squint my eyes? Like yeah, that’s their opinion and it does not make them any less of a fan. (Who gets to decide that, seriously) But I can’t even fathom such an opinion when the manga itself up to the very end was expressive! Style does not equal lack of expression or well, a plethora of expressions!
This isn’t a ‘the 90s anime was sooo much better’ thing. This is basic character class 101, regardless of any reason. Because even animators paid pennies (like they shouldn’t be) should still know their stuff? Maybe? I’m hoping?
However if you ignore all these things and you still enjoy the series, then Crystal is doing its job either way :D [/not sarcasm]
Also, the right hand thing happens more often than not in anime, even on shows with higher budgets. Just accept it, hope they do better next time and move on XD;;
