(from last year)
Two short comic strips I did for a German paper on the Nibelungenlied. Me analyzing women’s roles in it, if any.
Basically quiet doormats who can sew and somehow they’re also princesses with power are preferable to awesome strong independent women who can hang a king on a nail on the wall. Also, women are barter-able
I think there’s a good chance you might not get this if you don’t know much about the poem or Germanic culture.
Kriemhild: Oh, Siegfried, I love you!
Siegfried: Oh, Kriemhild, me too!
S: And I also need clothes for this very important kingly event, because clothes indicate what my status is.
S: And you’re only important for that
S: And also as my future wife!
Gunther: Help me, Siegfried! I want Brunhild to be my wife!
S: Give me your sister.
Hope you enjoy it <3
